Manabe Garden – Obihiro
Manabe Garden is a half a century old garden in Obihiro, in the Southeastern part of Hokkaido. The garden consists of themed gardens including Japanese and western. It is known for producing rare varieties of conifers and houses thousands of varieties of plants.
Inside this enormous garden, you will find different walking courses each presenting a contrasting yet exquisite scenery. A large Koi Pond which doesn’t freezes even in Hokkaido’s harsh winter graces the Japanese themed garden. Here, you will also find a kids’ play area housing wooden playground equipment right in the middle of the forest.
The view of Manabe garden keeps on changing with the season. So, anytime is a perfect time to visit this place. There’s a garden café, a nursery, and a garden center selling plants, souvenirs and other collectibles inside the garden as well. So, if you are making a visit to the Southeastern part of Hokkaido, then Manabe should be on your must visit list.

By Car – 10 minutes drive from Obihiro Station.
Public transport – From the Obihiro Station bus terminal, take the Nishimawari, Kogyo-kou, Kitako-bound bus and get off at “Nishi 4-jo 39-chome” and walk for about 5 minutes.
