In the month of November when the super short summer in Sapporo is gone and the bone chilling winter has not started yet, came a birthday along with a long weekend. I was dying to get away from my squirrel cage. I did a quick research and found a small town in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park region Lake Toya Onsen. It is a romantic place with good choice of accommodations and also easily accessible by public transport.
Fishing was always on my wish list during my stay in Australia. Finally, it came true in Hokkaido. While planning for the trip, I thought what could be better than having a giant salmon as your first catch. (more…)
I was invited to watch a Noh play by one of my Japanese friends. At first, I thought she is talking about the “Noah” but Wikipedia quickly told me how wrong I was. Noh is a form of classical Japanese Opera that is being performed since the 14th century. My friend told me that the Samurai warriors had to undergo Noh training to please their Shoguns. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to go without knowing what to expect. (more…)
